Bronchiectasis is a condition which widens or loosens the bronchial in the lungs which leads to infections. Infection, in turn, results in further loosening of the Bronchial. I was diagnosed with Bronchiectasis late last year. Anybody else affected?

I was diagnosed at about age 7 when I had a near miss under anaesthetic. I took bronchial dilation medication for many years, but don't now, I do have an inhaler for use when I get a flare up. Everyone I meet comments on my nasty cough, I tell them I've had it 28 years and I'm sure they don't believe me! I can't say as I notice it much and can even sleep through coughing fits I'm so good at it! Husband is not so thrilled however!

That's it. I don't think even my mother has grasped the fact that I will have this cough lingering about for the rest of my life. When I have a flare up, it's "Oh, you best get to the doctors again Mike"...So naive!

Just finished my second course of Anti-Biotics in a month....the cough disappeared for a few days but has come back again and I go to Ibiza on Saturday

Hi, Often people with a recurrent cough and ED find that it is because the respiratory tract is dry often due to lack of fluids in the body. A humidifier in the bedroom at night may help as it puts moisture in the air. It works for my children!
