Heat Rash Empty
PostSubject: Heat Rash   Heat Rash EmptyThu 24 Aug 2006 - 21:09

Just got back from my hoiday to Greece and it was a complete nightmare!!

After a couple of days I was covered in heat rash all over my body and arms... It looked as though acid had been thrown over me!!

I suffer from it slightly over here if it is very hot & sunny with no breeze or wind. I went to Greece last year and hardly suffered at all.. It was fairly windy that week.

Is this because my body can't control my temperature or is it just my skin reacting to the sun? Noone has ever really explained to me. I took some pictures which I will take to the doctors I may ask to see a skin specialist.. Is there much that can be done? I found that sun cream made it worse and that I felt as if it I was cooking under the cream!

Luckily we had air conditioning in our room so I spent a few days covered in soaking baby wipes, hydrocortizone cream and the air con on full wack!.. It cleared up fairly quick.

Does anyone else suffer from this?? My son who has ED doesn't seem to and is out in the sun all the time!

I think I'm like your son, then. I've never really suffered from heat rash and I've been to some pretty hot places. I'd definitely go to your docs. Was it like prickly heat? If so, I know someone who used to suffer from this on holiday, he used to take an anti-histimine a day and two paracetamol on a morning, usually cleared it up!

Anti-histimines didn't work, by the end of the week I was taking 3 times the dose recomended to no effect. I also started taking it a few weeks prior to the holiday. It was like a prickly heat rash though.
